It’s another two-fer Tuesday! Here’s another fun baby storytime plan.
Welcome/Introductions/Sharing: Baby’s Favorite Song
I like to keep track of these as caregivers share out and then play them at the end of storytime during Stay and Play!
Sing: Let’s All Clap…*
Rhyme: This is Big, Big, Big*
Bounce: Toast in the Toaster*
Sing: Everybody Clap Your Hands by Nancy Kopman
Read: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. & Eric Carle (Big Book)
We sang the words to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” The babies were enthralled!
Sing: These Are the Colors Over You (Scarves)
Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Red and green and yellow and blue.
These are the colors over you!
Red as an apple and green as a tree.
Yellow as the sun and blue as the sea.
Red and green and yellow and blue.
These are the colors over you!CREDIT: KENDRA @ READ SING PLAY
You can’t pass out scarves without playing a little peekaboo!
Sing: Peekaboo (Scarves)
Tune: Frere Jacques
Peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo,
I see you! I see you!
I see your button nose, I see your tiny toes!
Peek-a-boo! I see you!CREDIT: KCLS
Peekaboo brought the babies back nice and close to their caregivers, so we cuddled up for a quick bounce.
Bounce: Yellow Duck
When a yellow duck walks down the street,
Quack goes his bill, and waddle go his feet.
He comes to a puddle and with a bound,
In goes the yellow duck and swims around!CREDIT: KCLS
We revisited the animals from our first story with a puppet song.
Sing: The Duck in the Pond Says… (Puppets)
Tune: The Wheels on the Bus
The duck in the pond says quack, quack, quack!
Quack, quack, quack!
Quack, quack, quack!
The duck in the pond says quack, quack, quack
All day long!Repeat: other Brown Bear animals
Read: Books You Can Sing (Lapsit Books)
I gathered a variety of board books you can sing – mostly titles by Annie Kubler, Jane Cabrera and Hazel Quintanilla. I love the everyday diversity in the Baby Rhyme Board Books by Child’s Play. Many of these titles come in bilingual editions, too!
Lit Tip: Babies Love Books You Can SING!
Grown-ups, reading stories that you can sing is a great way to get your baby interested in books! You are your baby’s FAVORITE music artist. Your voice makes baby feel safe and loved, and when you sing while reading together, you help your baby associate those positive feelings with books!
Play: Bubbles
Rhyme: Tick Tock Cuckoo Clock*
Sing: Goodbye, Goodbye*
