Baby Storytime Spotlight: Colors!

It’s another two-fer Tuesday! Here’s another fun baby storytime plan.

Welcome/Introductions/Sharing: Baby’s Favorite Song

I like to keep track of these as caregivers share out and then play them at the end of storytime during Stay and Play!

We sang the words to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” The babies were enthralled!

Red and green and yellow and blue.

You can’t pass out scarves without playing a little peekaboo!

Peekaboo brought the babies back nice and close to their caregivers, so we cuddled up for a quick bounce.

When a yellow duck walks down the street,
Quack goes his bill, and waddle go his feet.
He comes to a puddle and with a bound,
In goes the yellow duck and swims around!

I gathered a variety of board books you can sing – mostly titles by Annie Kubler, Jane Cabrera and Hazel Quintanilla. I love the everyday diversity in the Baby Rhyme Board Books by Child’s Play. Many of these titles come in bilingual editions, too!

Lit Tip: Babies Love Books You Can SING!

Grown-ups, reading stories that you can sing is a great way to get your baby interested in books! You are your baby’s FAVORITE music artist. Your voice makes baby feel safe and loved, and when you sing while reading together, you help your baby associate those positive feelings with books!
