Is it cheating to do two separate Top Ten Tuesday posts in a single day? I dunno. Either way, I’m really looking forward to these upcoming 2022 picture books from ten of my favorite storytime authors… times two! You can’t expect met to seriously just pick ten, right? 🙂
Andrea Davis Pinkney & Brian Pinkney: Bright Brown Baby

I am SO GLAD we are getting these poems (previously published separately as board books) together in a hardcover format! I can’t wait to share this book with my baby storytime families.
Angela Dominguez: Me Gusta and I’m Hungry! ¡Tengo Hambre!

TWO picture books coming out from Angela Dominguez this year?! How did we get so lucky?!
April Pulley Sayre with Jeff Sayre: Happy Sloth Day!
A posthumous publication. I’m so sad that April Pulley Sayre is no longer with us. 😦
Greg Pizzoli: Pizza! A Slice of History

A Greg Pizzoli picture book about my favorite food? Yes please!
Heidi Woodward Sheffield: Ice Cream Face

Who else fell in love with Brick by Brick last year? 🙋 I’m so excited to see another beautiful book by this author coming our way!
Iza Trapani & Maddie Frost: Skip to My Moo
I love when two of my favorite authors collaborate! This one is bound to be good for a moo-vin’, groovin’ storytime. Pun intended. 🙂
Jane Whittingham: Animals Move
Woohoo for a new book in the Big, Little Concepts series (by various authors)! We have loved reading the previous titles Shape Up, Construction Trucks and Listen Up! Train Song in storytime, as well as other books by Jane. Can’t wait for these new cute critters hit the page!
JaNay Brown Wood & Samara Hardy: Miguel’s Community Garden
Amara’s Farm was a big hit in our fall storytimes last year. I’m so excited this will be a series! We need way more books about Black children and nature.
Jean Reidy & Lucy Ruth Cummins: Sylvie

I am SO HERE for another collaboration between these two! Truman was such a treasure and I can’t wait to read Sylvie the spider’s story.
Kevin Henkes & Laura Dronzek: Little Houses
Another house book from Henkes! Apparently, this one follows the wonderings of a child on the beach. Hope it’s a good fit for my Questions theme storytime!
Lucy Cousins: A Good Place

Excited to add this book into my storytime rotation for both Bugs and Houses/Homes! Looks like there will be lots of great vocabulary, too.
Mary Murphy: Chirp!

This looks like it will be a good one for a phonological awareness focused storytime! Full of fun bird sounds to make.
Max Amato: Pick Me!
This sounds delightfully silly! I adored Max Amato’s debut picture book, Perfect, and I’m so glad he’s back for more.
Mechel Renee Roe: I’m Growing Great!

Very much looking forward to this beautiful, flower-filled follow up to Cool Cuts and Happy Hair!
Nina Crews: I’m Not Small

Ooooh this looks like a great early math picture book!
Petr Horácek: A Best Friend for Bear and Mister Boo!

Okay, I am not actually sure if these will finally be published in the US in 2022, but I’ll buy them from the UK and pay for international shipping if I must!
Stephen Savage: Moon Light
Apparently this will be a bedtime book. What I wouldn’t give for a sneak peek at some sample pages! 👀
Tammi Sauer & Joren Cull: The Underpants
Cover Not Yet Released
This one is described as a “hilarious and irreverent homage to Jan Brett’s The Mitten.” Coming from Sauer, you know it will be fabulously funny!
Tom Fletcher: There’s a Unicorn in Your Book!

My storytime kids are going to FREAK. They’re already huge fans of Fletcher’s interactive series. Now there’s one about a unicorn?
Toni Yuly: Some Questions About Trees

Another one I’m eyeing for my Questions theme storytime!
It’s a good looking year in kidlit! There are so many new and exciting picture book debuts I’m looking forward to as well. Who’s on your reading radar this year? Would love to know in the comments below!
